Konya Plummer is a Jamaican professional footballer, best known for captaining the Reggae Girlz, during their historic appearance at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Born and raised in Epsom, St. Mary, she has represented Jamaica on the international stage and played professionally in the U.S. National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

Driven by a passion for community empowerment, Konya has launched philanthropic efforts, focused on health and education support for underserved Jamaican communities, beginning with her own.

Konya’s philanthropic intervention plans to address key needs in rural Jamaican communities, particularly in areas where youth and families lack access to adequate education and healthcare. These efforts are designed to promote access to essential services, economic opportunity and nurturing spaces.

Turn Challenges into Opportunities.

Founded in July 2024 by Konya Plummer, the Konya Plummer Community Grant (KPCG), emerged from a simple but powerful idea to cultivate positive change.

Driven by a commitment to uplift, Konya seeks to turn her inspiration into impact, investing directly in underserved communities to foster hope and opportunity. Konya stated that her aim for the Grant is to “build nurturing environments where possibilities can flourish and empower individuals to break cycles of adversity”.

The grant operates on a fundamental belief that when families have access to education and adequate healthcare, dreams become more achievable. Given that many children, especially in low-income areas, lose sight of their potential due to a lack of support or role models, the KPCG aims to fill that gap by offering funding for community-driven intervention, aimed at transforming lives.

The specific scope of the grant involves:

Project 1: School Support & Youth Empowerment

Aligned with her mission to inspire and uplift others, this initiative targets school-aged children in Epsom and surrounding areas. Support will include:

  • Back-to-school programs
  • School supply drives
  • Scholarships

These activities will be geared toward high school students, top-performing students, and students in need, helping them to stay engaged, motivated, and equipped throughout their academic journey.

Project 2: Health Centre Support (Clinic Adoption Initiative)

Konya’s grant also plans to adopt a health centre through the Ministry of Health’s Adopt-A-Clinic Programme, which empowers private donors to strengthen primary healthcare services across Jamaica.

Commitment: J$1,000,000 annually for 3-5 years
Support Areas:

  • Infrastructure improvements (roofing, plumbing, repainting)
  • Basic clinical equipment (BP machines, exam beds, autoclaves)
  • Facility enhancements (fans, AC units, office furniture)

The adoption will be formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding, followed by community launch activities and public recognition.
