KPH Gifted with Supplies from the American Friends of Jamaica

Health care services at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) received a boost yesterday (April 16, 2019) with the donation of sheets, towels, wash rags and other sundries courtesy of the American Friends of Jamaica (AFJ) in collaboration with Ms. Ena Williams from Yale New Haven Hospital.

The items, valued at £5,000, will strengthen the efforts made by the KPH team to efficiently deliver health care services to the largest population of Jamaica.

The AFJ was established in 1982 as a non-profitable organization to assist Jamaican charities in the areas of education, healthcare, and human and economic development.

President of the AFJ, Ms. Wendy Hart, said that the foundation donated equipment and other items to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, St. Ann’s Bay Hospital, Annotto Bay Hospital and Savanna-la-mar Hospital in recent times.
During the handing over, Ms. Janice Hart, volunteer member from Connecticut who played an instrumental part in securing the donated items, said that she is pleased to be making a positive impact to KPH. She added that the nurses and doctors at KPH took care of her mother when she fell ill.

Similarly, Ms. Caron Chung, the Executive Director of AFJ thanked the partners at the Ministry of Health and Dennis Shipping for their role in the delivery of the donation.

The Acting Chief Executive Officer at the Victoria Jubilee and Kingston Public Hospitals, Ms. Colleen Wright expressed appreciation for the donation. She said that KPH see approximately 2000 patients per day and the items will significantly help to improve the services delivered at the hospital on a daily basis.
