
Kingston Public Hospital Received Gifts Valued at over U$5,000 from AFJ
New York, NY Friday, April 26, 2019 – The American Friends of Jamaica, Inc. (AFJ) donated gifts value at over U$5,000 (JA$669,200) to health care services at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) on April 16, 2019. The donated items include sheets, towels, wash rags, gloves, suture kits and other sundries. These items will help the KPH team efficiently deliver health care services to the largest population of Jamaica.
The President of the AFJ, Wendy Hart stated, “The AFJ donated equipment and other items to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, St. Ann’s Bay Hospital, Annotto Bay Hospital and Savanna-la- mar Hospital in recent times.”
During the handing over, a volunteer member from Connecticut who played an instrumental part in securing the donated items, Janice Hart expressed that she was pleased to be making a positive impact on KPH. She appreciated that the nurses and doctors at KPH took care of her mother when she was not feeling good.
Similarly, Caron Chung, the Executive Director of AFJ thanked the partners at the Ministry of Health, Dennis Shipping and JetBlue for their role in the delivery of the donation.
The Acting Chief Executive Officer at the Victoria Jubilee and Kingston Public Hospitals, Colleen Wright emphasized, “KPH see approximately 2000 patients per day and the items will significantly help to improve the services delivered at the hospital on a daily basis.”
