Executive Director’s Greetings
Hello Friends and Supporters:
Philanthropy is among the most rewarding work that creates a true sense of purpose. Our work at the AFJ is grounded in the belief that philanthropy should be a force for good. We are committed to social impact, innovative programming and efficient best practices. As a registered 501c3 nonprofit serving programs in Jamaica, our unique value proposition is our focus on our role in the society and how our corporate partnerships can be harnessed to drive positive social and economic change.
The accomplishments of the past year could not have been achieved without collaborations and important partner relationships. Our work on the ground in Jamaica with private partners such as Sandals Foundation has helped incubate and accelerate worthwhile projects as in the upgrade of St. Ann’s Bay Hospital Male Surgical Ward. We recognize that we are all in this together and together we can help build a stronger nation. Additionally, through cross-sector collaborations our fundraising initiatives yielded an increase in discretionary grant giving, donor direct contributions and pledged donations.
As a high impact nonprofit seeking to maximize reach for Jamaica by delivering better and more innovative services, an exciting initiative abound involves ramping up the use of technology to engage a wider demography of friends of Jamaica. Before the end of the summer, our new online Portal Fundraising program will launch. Donors will have the opportunity to choose from an approved selection of projects to make their tax deductible donations by identifying a program that resonates with their passion. I would like to invite you to stay connected through updates on our website and social media. Join us as we continue to build on our legacy of doing good for Jamaica.
Thanks to the vision and leadership of our President and the Board of Directors, the AFJ continues on a sure-footed path to sustainability.
I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events. Best wishes for the year ahead.
Warm regards,
Caron S. Chung
