Wolmer’s Safe Shelter Programme for Girls Fund

Donations will support the Wolmer’s Safe Shelter Programme for Girls Fund in providing a safe haven for students who are victims of abuse.
Tragically, each year the school’s administration becomes aware of students who are being physically, emotionally, and/or sexually abused within their homes or neighbourhood environs. The Safe Shelter Programme has been created to provide a safe haven for such students, by arranging for them to live with caring foster parents.

Join our 2023 Humanitarian Awardee The Hon. Douglas Orane in supporting the Wolmer’s Safe Shelter Programme for Girls Fund.

The cost per year per student is US$8,000, which covers board and lodging plus all school expenses.

“Hear my cry! Some of our girls are in deep crisis, not of their own making. Please give generously to set them on a new pathway.”
Colleen Montague, Principal

Girls will live in the selected foster homes up to graduation from high school. Intervention may be needed from as early as second form (13 year olds) up to sixth form (18 year olds). The experience has been that this change in the girls’ lives leads to a huge positive change in their educational advancement and success in life.

The Wolmer’s Trust Schools’ purpose is to produce rounded young adults, well prepared for building a better Jamaica. As an example, 24 Rhodes scholars to date are Wolmerians, the highest from any educational institution in Jamaica. Other examples are our graduates excelling in athletics, science, the arts, and business.
