Since April 2014, Rema and its surrounding communities have had limited water supply primarily because of the community’s inability to pay for the high electricity costs associated with its current water pump - a necessity due to poor drainage and pipe infrastructure.
Support This CauseThe C.B. Facey Foundation has worked with a reputable service provider to source a solar pump, mobilize structural support, provide security service and secure a management contract that includes training at a cost of US$53,000. To sustain these costs beyond two years, usage fees will be collected from Boys’ Town Infant and Primary School, HEART Trust/NTA, The Boys’ Town Football Club and The Boy’s Town Community Centre.
Consistent water supply is expected to eliminate limited access to water for personal and domestic use and poor sanitation. Students will attend school in a healthier environment. Food for the canteen will be sourced more economically from a fully operational greenhouse. Sports teams will thrive, expansion of other non-governmental organization programmes and infrastructure development will continue with consistent water supply. Help these communities realize their human right to water.
