We believe that Kingston is the creative capital of the Caribbean. Kingston Creative is a nonprofit organisation founded in February 2017. We developed 65 new street art murals in our ‘Paint the City’ project, trained over 4000 creatives, opened a Coworking space and artisan store for creatives, hosted over 100 events and brought 29,000 visitors to Downtown Kingston. Our mission is to empower creative people so that they can create social and economic value, access global markets and uplift their communities.
Your donation will help to support Jamaican artists, build the new Art District and transform Downtown Kingston into a vibrant, safe, creative city.
Kingston Creative is working in partnership to transform Downtown Kingston into a vibrant Art District and a Creative Hub. Kingston Creative is committed to developing a healthy creative ecosystem and growing the creative economy.
Paint the City, the mural project, will transform Downtown Kingston into a safe, attractive destination using art and culture, bringing new life to historic buildings and vacant or under-utilized spaces. The murals reflect on local contexts and the city’s rich cultural history.
The murals employ community-based artists and the visitors to the Art District support other businesses. Communities such as Rae Town, Beat Street, Tivoli Gardens and Trench Town have all been a part of the ‘Paint the City’ programme and tours. The use of augmented and virtual reality creates an immersive experience while the tours and regular Artwalks bring visitors in to the area. These activities all highlight the beauty in Downtown Kingston, the capital of Jamaica.
