On July 3, 2024, the passage of Hurricane Beryl along the south coast of Jamaica devastated many communities in the parish of St. Elizabeth. While other parts of Jamaica have suffered less impact, the greater Treasure Beach area and environs have experienced the full impact of this powerful Category 4 hurricane. Days later, this tight-knit community known for fishing, farming, and community tourism is still without electricity, water and communication services with no definitive timeline for the resumption of these essential needs.

Many residents have lost roofs, making their homes uninhabitable—especially as the rains continue. Yet, the community is resilient and determined to build back even stronger. We’ve got the spirit and will, but we need your support. In order to ensure equity and transparency, a committee of residents from each area of the community has come together to assess need, distribute aid, and provide much needed record keeping of donations and expenditures. This network was activated for maximum impact and efficacy after the Hurricane Ivan disaster 20 years ago.
