Founded in 1998, Breds - The Treasure Beach Foundation provides health, sport, and educational programming based primarily in the eight districts that comprise Treasure Beach on Jamaica’s South Coast. Breds is committed to improving the lives of the people living in the community through education and leadership initiatives, sports programming for social change, and promotion of best environmental practices to create a sustainable future for the local fishing industry. In 2024 when Hurricane Beryl caused great damage to the community, Breds was a true leader in the recovery and assisted the region to “build back better with love.” Currently the community has been hard hit just 16 months later by Hurricane Melissa. All current Breds efforts are directed towards relief, not just in the Treasure Beach area, but in our neighboring communities specifically to the North and West which have been hardest hit.

The term ‘Breds,’ short for brethren, is a friendly greeting used in our local community.

Current board members: Jason Henzell (chairman), Norma Moxam (vice chairman), Tamesha Dyght- Jones, Adina Parchment, Dwayne Wiggan, O’Neil James, Dennis Abrahams and James Godfrey.
