2015 Grantee Recipients

On April 20th, during the annual Official Grant Ceremony at US Embassy Kingston, the AFJ presented thirty-­‐three grants to groups and organizations dedicated to Jamaica's development.

2015 Grantee Recipients

The AFJ is pleased to be a part of the legacy of all the grantees we support.

Grant Awards are presented annually in Jamaica during the Official Grant Ceremony in April. In 2015, The AFJ presented thirty-three (33) grants to groups and organizations dedicated to Jamaica’s development. (make sure there is a single dash between thirty-three).
 

 

Organization Purpose of Grant
Alpha Institute To develop an integrated course in music performance, recording and production; renovate and equip a music studio.
Breds Treasure Beach Foundation Breds Youth Leadership program for inner city youth.
Caribbean American Center of New York (CACNY) Education and classroom materials for 5 Basic and Primary schools in rural St. Elizabeth.

Cornwall Regional Hospital “We Care for Cornwall” Donor Direct Grant
CUMI Donor Direct Grant
Do Good Jamaica Educational materials and teacher training for social schools and numeracy education in basic schools across Jamaica.
Dudley Grant Memorial Trust Purchase of Quality Multi-media Early Childhood Educational Material for Basic Schools.

Maxfield Park Children’s Home Donor Direct Grant
PALS Donor Direct Grant
Project Sprout – Sandals Foundation Program which provides teaching and social service support to lift school readiness to 100% in underperforming basic schools.
Promise Learning Centre Playground Fencing and Equipment for Physical Education for children with Autism and other learning disabilities.
Race Course Primary School Alumni Inc. Repairs and Reconstruction at this inner city primary school.
Rose Town Foundation for the Build Environment Read to Succeed – After school tutoring program for children in this inner city community, providing a safe space and with a track record for improving exam results.
Sickle Cell Trust (Jamaica) To implement Universal Newborn Screening for Sickle Cell Disease in Jamaica.
SOS Children’s Village of Jamaica Foundation Nutrition and Food Security/Self- sustainability Initiative – introduction of a farming program at this all age orphanage.
St. Mary’s Preparatory Kindergarten School Addition of New Block to Facilitate a Pre-school.
TEACH Caribbean 2015 TEACH Caribbean Summer Program – provides Rhodes Scholar led summer tutoring program in Manchester with track record for excellence.
Tennis Jamaica/Christine & Phillip Gore Family Foundation Donor Direct Grant
The Animal House Donor Direct Grant
Waterhouse Community Development Benevolent Society (WCDBS) Arts-based Education & Leadership Training for at-risk Youth.
Youth Upliftment Through Employment (YUTE) Program to train unemployed inner city young adults as basic school teachers and then place them as teachers in underserved communities.
UWI Bursary Cobb Family Foundation AFJ Scholarship Fund.
